The joy of gardens and landscaping
My father retired seven years ago, and the family wondered what he would end up doing with himself. He was a workaholic, an elementary school principal who put in sixty or more hours a week, learned the names of every kid who went through his school's doors, and, deep down, probably didn't really want to retire. Or at least a part of him didn't want to retire. But retire he did, and with it came new time for old hobbies. This included stuff like hunting and fishing, things he'd always made time for, but it also included time to enjoy his gardens and landscaping, something he hadn't previous had much time for beyond mowing the lawn on the weekends. And when he was done, his gardens and landscaping were some of the most beautiful in town. He may have had a gift for it; certainly, he had a great aesthetic sense at the very least. Part of that, though, was that his brain was very organized and neat, and he tended to treat his gardens and landscaping in the same fashion. It's not that everything had to be symmetrical or systematic, and at first glance maybe a certain part of the garden looked haphazard, but upon longer inspection everything there seemed to have a purpose, seemed to make sense just by being there. Of course, he wasn't quite a professional at it and, like with almost everyone else, he got some tips online. At landscaping.about.com you'll find some great tips of your own, such as the following: You don't have to be super-methodical to make some use of landscape design plans in implementing your landscaping ideas.
