She was getting what the British euphemistically call a "bum lift" - a gluteoplasty - when liquid injected into her during the procedure managed to travel to her heart and lungs. She eventually died of a pulmonary embolism, or a blockage of the arteries in her lungs. She's survived by seven year old twins.

While stories like Magnano's are rare, the worst can and does sometimes happen when talking about something as invasive as cutting into live tissue. So if you're planning on having plastic surgery done, make sure you take precautions and choose the right doctor, one with experience and integrity. If you've done that, you've greatly lowered your plastic surgery risks from the start.
