Information is everywhere, and now that the Internet is in many homes within the US, it is something that many turn to when they want more. If you need a phone number for a business, or you have an unidentified business calling your home repeatedly, you want to go find the online yellow pages to see what you can find through them. Answers are often simpler than they seem at first.

To find a number of a business by name, all you have to do is enter the name and see what comes up. If you have a location, that helps. What can be a problem is that some companies have many different names they use (which is never a good sign) so they may not show up under the name for them that you know. Sometimes, a company is DBA (doing business as) a different name, and that makes them hard to find in the yellow pages as well. However, most businesses want to be listed, as they get many great customers this way.

If you have a number that calls you all of the time, hangs up, and they never leave a message, you may be going out of your mind trying to figure out who it is that keeps calling. You are and should be wary when they won’t leave you a message to say who they are. When that happens, and you are pretty sure you are dealing with a business of some type, you can take the number to the yellow pages and do what is called a reverse search. To do this, all you have to do is to add the number and then see what company name comes up in relation. There should only be one listing.

There are going to be times when no information will come up through the yellow pages, either online or off. There are a few reasons for this. It could be that it is not a business at all. In that case, go to the white pages to see what comes up. It may also be a company that goes out of its way to hide its identity. This is often the case when it comes to debt collectors, or when someone is calling you with a scam. Use caution when finding numbers in other ways, as those companies not listed in the yellow pages often have something to hide.
